Do You Need Internet at the Venue?

One of the most common concerns we hear from families and funeral directors is about internet access at the venue. Many older churches, chapels, and funeral homes don't have reliable Wi-Fi, and some have no fixed internet connection at all. Does that mean live streaming isn't possible?

Not at all. Here's how we handle internet access at any venue.

The Challenge With Venue Internet

Venue internet varies enormously. A modern funeral home in a city might have fast, reliable broadband. A small rural church might rely on an old connection, or might have no internet at all. Even venues with good internet can have problems on the day, too many devices connected, a router issue, or a congested local network.

Relying entirely on venue internet for a funeral live stream is a risk we simply don't take.

We Bring Our Own Connection

TributeCast.NZ brings 4G/5G mobile internet capability to every service. This means we are not dependent on the venue's internet connection at all. We connect through our own mobile data, which gives us a reliable, dedicated connection that we control entirely.

In practice, we often use a combination of the venue's internet and our mobile backup. If the venue has good internet, we use it and keep our mobile connection in reserve. If the venue's internet is unreliable or unavailable, we switch to 4G/5G seamlessly.

What If There's No Mobile Coverage?

In very remote locations, even 4G/5G coverage can be limited. This is rare in our primary service areas of Auckland, Waikato, and Bay of Plenty, but it's something we assess in advance for any unusual venue. If coverage might be a concern, we'll let you know when you book so we can plan accordingly.

We Test in Advance

Whenever possible, we assess the venue before the service to understand the internet situation. On the day, we arrive early and test the connection thoroughly before going live. By the time guests arrive, we know the stream is stable.
